Founder & Builder
Zach’s first car was a campervan, a 1967 Volkswagen Bus. He’s been a die-hard Volkswagen enthusiast since the tender age of 12 and has owned, road-tripped, and occasionally lived in dozens of VW Buses over the years. In 2017, after nearly two decades behind a desk doing “the corporate thing” in Seattle, Zach jumped ship to pursue his passion. He lives with his wife, Ashley, and son, Max, in Grass Valley, California, where he spends his time building campervans and daydreaming of his next adventure on the open road.

Builder & Operations
Camping and carpentry were big parts of Ilsa’s life growing up in rural Eastern Washington, so it was only a matter of time for her to come back around to these passions. Similar to Zach, Ilsa also quit the corporate world and now splits her time between Seattle and Grass Valley, where she builds campervans and “does the internet stuff.”

upholsterer & Resident Chef
Ashley and Zach met in Seattle via her ‘71 Volkswagen Super Beetle and a romance formed on a base of mutual VW enthusiasm. The two bought a ‘77 VW Campmobile early in their relationship and have been road-tripping, adventuring, and loving life together ever since — and yes, they still have that ‘77 Bus. She spends her time as Cascade Campers’ own upholsterer extraordinaire, and she enjoys keeping the team nourished and happy with her ninja cooking skills.
